This Is a Post, Not a Blog

Ectoplasmosis:

PPS: Note to print journalists like Rafael Behr deigning to comment on the Internet -- nothing makes you look more clueless and out-of-touch than when you refer to a post as a "blog." Ectomo is a (we)blog. The article you are reading now is a post. This is not difficult to comprehend.

Amen.

Do you think it would help if bloggers changed their use of the verb to agree with the noun?

I.e. Replace

Q: "What are you doing?"
A: "Oh, I'm blogging"

With

Q: "What are you doing"
A: "Oh, I'm posting"

Just a thought.

Amen.

Another good one to get into the stylebook is the redundancy "online blog".

As opposed to all those offline blogs, I suppose?
