Credit where credit's due time. The NUJ has come a long way since the kerfuffle earlier in the year.
How so?
- NUJ General Secretary Jeremy Dear has finally found his blogging mojo this month.
- The Annual Delegate Meeting is being robustly covered using a range of social media.
- We have a new editor of The Journalist
OK, there's some worrying, but unsubstantiated allegations going around about NUJ Left.
But I'd go as far as to say that the NUJ is beginning to get social media. Blimey.
Yep, my comment now is a direct result of following you on Twitter. I don't always agree with you, but hey, credit where it's due to you too for posting this
Life would be very dull if we all agreed all the time...
...or very efficient!
Good to see that NUJ is starting to get it. I've subscribed to the blogs' feeds so I'll be actively lurking!
Why unsubstantiated, Adam?
Based on the link above, it's just one person's claims. You'd need some form of external verification of his allegations for the story to be substantiated.
The ADM coverage has been good. I particularly like the fact it involves students - a great way of preparing them for the world of work (covering events is an essential part of a reporter's job) and helping them to get to know the union's decision making processes.
It will be interesting to see what approach the new Editor takes to new media. A post I published on my blog today looks at some of the challenges for Christine Buckley in her new role.
And the "effing blogger" protagonist was in charge of the ADM coverage online, using Wordpress, live blogging, Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and Flickr.
Delighted to see that the whole incident was so educational for you, Mr Wheal.
;-)
I'd like to have thought it was educational for all concerned, but I'd rather not debate in that way again.
Fancy an old-fashioned chat over a pint?
It was certainly that. :-)
I'll drop you a line re:beer in the next couple of days.
