The social algorithms post is really interesting - it was predicted in the Long Tail, and I've been teaching about it for a while now. Personal recommendations are worth more because of the trust relationship that's already inherent. (Though it's interesting to ask people to analyse their trust relationship with Google - we all actually trust it higher than we might think.)
