Morning Coffee Reading - 6/1/09
Things noted in my RSS reading in the last few days:
- [H](http://www.bjr.org.uk/data/2008/no4_richmond) [ow SEO is changing journalism](http://www.bjr.org.uk/data/2008/no4_richmond) – I’m late to this one, but it’s an excellent explanation of why certain SEO skills are vital to the modern journalist. Shane Richmond really knows his stuff.
- [How the Air Force Responds to Blogs](http://www.web-strategist.com/blog/2008/12/31/diagram-how-the-air-force-response-to-blogs/) – fascinating flowchart developed by the US air force deal with discussion of them on blogs. It’s a flowchart for conversations…
- [JPG Magazine closes](http://gigaom.com/2009/01/02/8020-startup-behind-jpg-magazine-publisher-shuts-down/) – don’t assume that UGC will save you. This user-generated magazine was the poster child for user content, and it’s gone.
- [Wherever the media is going, it’ll need subs and editors](http://garyandrews.wordpress.com/2009/01/03/wherever-the-media-is-going-itll-need-subs-and-editors/) – interesting ideas in here, particularly on how to structure groups blogs almost like traditional magazines to make them work. That’s something I’ve seen at work on AOL’s blogs.
- [There will always be an audience for good stories, I hope](http://merandawrites.com/2009/01/01/there-will-always-be-an-audience-for-good-stories-i-hope/) – Me, too.

Some Good Reading About The Future of News Paid Members Public
Good stuff I’ve read recently, haven’t linked to yet, but don’t have much to add to right now: * The Nichepaper Manifesto [http://blogs.harvardbusiness.org/haque/2009/07/the_nichepaper_manifesto.html] – an articulate and well argued guide to how niche publishing might looks going forwards. * Media
