…look at the line-up for this year’s “reinvented” PPA conference.

Play a game: try to spot how many speakers there are from outside the mainstream of traditional publishing. The online video session has some smart people on it, but beyond that?

A conference which is talking about vloggers as a new and exciting medium is one that’s so lost touch with the market trends that are disrupting the business from the outside as to be nigh-on irrelevant. This is the bubble talking to itself – and that’ll just reinforce the mindset that’s stopping the industry innovating.

Update: I’ve just realised: the conference schedule is a JPEG – and the only alternative is a PDF! These are not good signs for an organisation that understands digital publishing…
