Like so many others, I stopped off to vote on the way in to work this morning. I had three separate ballot papers: for the national government, for the local council and for the local mayor.
I was particularly pleased to be able to vote for local blogger Max Calo, who has done some great campaigning work in the area in recent years, and is standing for a council seat for the LibDems.
This has been the first general election of my adult life when the outcome feels very much in doubt. I'm looking forward to the counts and over-night coverage immensely. Are you?
The close ones make the process more interesting... right up until your guy loses. I went to bed, 9 years ago, knowing (knowing!) Gore had it over Bush.
And then I thought Kerry was going to knock him out of the White House.
Well, even the "pundits" get it wrong some of the time.
Oh, gosh. Bush/Gore. I remember going away for a week's holiday during that, thinking it would be resolved before I got home - and finding that it wasn't.
Thanks for swinging by. Been ages since you commented here. :)
Hi Adam,
thanks for the vote, it was buried under a major tsunami of Labour votes, but never mind, another time we'll do better.
In the meantime there are plenty of real issues that one doesn't need to be elected at Council to tackle.
Cheers
Max
